kriyas kundalini rising

Don’t Let The Kriyas Get You Down

If you are undergoing sudden spiritual enlightenment, don’t be alarmed if you start making sounds, chanting, singing and doing odd postures.  It’s called krias, baby! Let the Kundalini roll.

It may start with a sound that you hear simultaneously “outside” your head as well as vibrating inside your body.  Then, before you know it, the sound is rising and vibrating up and through your mouth.  You are not making this sound as much as the sound is making you.

Sometimes this happens at the same time as your body suddenly takes on a very extreme posture.  Mine seemed to be mostly Camel Pose…yes, so search for an image of Camel Pose and have a good laugh on me!  Can you imagine how awkward it is to do that, while making a very loud and vibrating seed syllable, without knowing it was going to happen?

Don’t be scared, it’s not like the Exorcist.  You are not going to spin your head around and puke pea soup.  But it is a strange experience to have something move through you and express itself in sound and movement outside of your conscious will.  It’s even more unnerving when it happens in front of someone else.

In my experience, the combination of the sound and the posture only happened when my Kundalini was taking a ride north.  It’s very ecstatic, so at least you get something for all the weirdness.  On many occasions, the spontaneous sound or chanting would happen without the physical posture, and I did not experience Kundalini then.

You’re just having your circuits and pathways cleared out, so don’t worry too much.  As for the sounds, I noticed that sometimes it would happen in response to a specific need.  For instance, when I was riding my motorcycle in the cold, the sound RAM was uttered repeatedly, which immediately made me very warm from the inside out.  Kind of cool, really.  And no one can really hear you on a motorcycle anyway.

If any of this happens to you, the best thing you can do is avoid telling yourself stories about it.  Stay in the present.  It may happen once and never again.  It may happen for a while and then stop.  There is no need to project out a future of freakdom for yourself or get upset because you are not “in control.”

You are okay, in fact, better than okay.  The Being possessing you is not some minion of Hell.  It is your own luminous Self, whom you may be meeting for the first time.

"We’ve gotten into the habit of always wanting what’s next. We bring this consumeristic approach to spirituality as well. We learn something, file it away, and want what’s next. The next teaching, the next guru, the next spiritual blogger, the next method, the next initiation, a longer retreat, another psychedelic shamanic journey. We want what’s next when we haven’t even become intimate with the teaching or the experience or the knowledge that is right in front of us." continue reading
